Quiet Mode

Modbus Motion Interface

Write_Word(<AxisOrGroupPage>_+_BeginStop_w,0);

Description

Set Quiet Mode reduces the audible noise heard when the stepper motor is holding position. Quiet mode can be used in open loop or tracking modes. Quiet Mode is limited in speed to a few RPS depending on motor properties and only enabled when the current is less than 2 amps. Applications with higher voltage (i.e. 48 volts) and low inducatance motors may not work well with quiet mode. When performing closed loop control with Variable Current Mode active the motor may appear to "stick" to the nominal position with excessive current as quiet mode is not able to operate accurately at very lower current levels. Reading the register returns the last written value.
